11. Yellowstone “Landing at San Felipe” Prints – Paper ($40.00)
This is a paper print of the original painting entitled "Landing at San Felipe, March 1836" by Peter J. Rindlisbacher. The steamboat Yellow Stone (Yellowstone) was already well known in the West as the first steamboat to navigate the upper Missouri River when it came to Texas to play a major role in the Texas Revolution. The historic Yellow Stone steamboat famously passed the burned ruins of San Felipe de Austin on April 15, 1836, while running down the swollen Brazos River under heavy fire from Mexican forces commanded by General Joaquín Ramírez y Sesma. On December 27, 1836, Stephen F. Austin died. Yellow Stone was asked to pick his body up and transport it to his sister's home at Peach Point Plantation. ($40.00)
